Goat cheese and fig toast

by Andrea Gámez

This goat cheese and fig toast is great. It is easy and quick to make, nutritious an it tastes really good.

Figs are one of those tropical and somewhat exotic fruits that some places are not that easy to find. They grow in lots of places in Mexico for example, because of the wheather and temperature. In summer, where we up, there are figs everywhere. They are so pretty, dark purple or blue on the outside, and yellowish, sweet and juicy on the inside. They are so rich and yummy on their own, without any type of garnish, but they are even better in salads or on toasts because of their sweetness.

Toast with figs, goat cheese, nuts and honey

This was sort of an experiment on a toast or piece of bread. Kind of like a cheese platter with fruits. They usually have grapes, dates or figs, and that’s because cheese and these type of fruits go great together, specially with cheeses more on the savory side, like goat cheese, or blue cheese for example.

The combination is splendid, you have the soft and savory goat cheese, the crunchy nuts, the sweet and fresh figs, and some honey on top, to bring it all together. Few things are better than this, it is that simple. A perfect way to eat figs.

Goat cheese and fig toast

Figs, and guavas, are our dad’s favorite fruits. And the funny thing is both are pretty mexican, native from america at least and they are abundant there.

The bread you use to make this recipe should be some kind of rustic bread, but you could also use a brioche bread slice for example and it would be just as great.
