Frozen yogurt barks

Frozen yogurt barks

Frozen yogurt barks are frozen pieces of yogurt with fruit, granola and other ingredients. They are naturally sweet and very fresh, which makes them ideal for the summer and warmer months. Barks do not need to be cooked, they just need to be put in the freezer for a while for the yogurt to solidify and that’s it, so simple.

Yogurt barks have an irregular shape, which is why they are called barks, because they are similar to a tree wood barks actually.

This is the classic yogurt barks recipe, which is usually topped with strawberries, blueberries and some granola, and some kind of dried fruit, but the truth is that the beauty of making yogurt barks is to be able to use whatever we have on hand. So feel free to add any other ingredient you like, which can be peach or peach pieces, pistachios, almonds, raisins, grated dried coconut, among others. The idea is that they are ingredients that combine well with each other and contrast.

In this recipe we use blueberries and strawberries, but for the pictures we actually didn’t have strawberries, so we used a mixture of cranberries, raspberries and blackberries to replace them.

This recipe is very easy to make and does not require many things or utensils, which is great. It is a recipe that takes 10 minutes to make, no more, and you just have to wait for the yogurt to freeze and that’s it.

If you want to have something sweet to eat at home but don’t want to get into making something elaborate, then this is the perfect recipe for you, which is probably one of the easiest recipes we have on the blog.

For this recipe it is important to note that you should make the barks to be thin, so the layer of yogurt should be thin. This is because it is easier to eat the barks this way, plus they freeze faster!

  • 2 C (16.93 oz) (480 gr) natural yogurt or greek yogurt, unsweetened
  • 3 tbsp (1.52 fl oz) (45 ml) honey or maple syrup
  • 1 tsp (0.17 fl oz) (5 ml) vanilla extract
  • 1/2 C strawberries, fresh or frozen, rinsed and sliced
  • 1/2 C blueberries, fresh or frozen
  • 1/4 C natural granola unsweetened

  • Place some parchment baking paper in a rectangular tray of approximately 13 x 9 inches (33cm x 22cm).
  • Add the yogurt with the honey and vanilla extract in a bowl and beat with a fork until smooth.
  • Pour the yogurt into the pan and spread with a spoon until the entire surface is covered. The layer of yogurt should be quite thin, for the yogurt to freeze quickly and for the barks to be easier to eat.
  • Top the yogurt with the strawberries, blueberries and granola. Cover the tray with some plastic wrap and place in the freezer for at least 3 hours until firm.
  • Once the yogurt is ready, remove it from the freezer and carefully cut it into 12 irregular pieces.
