Now, the original recipe was actually made with apple. So in reality the original banana bread recipe our grandma made was an apple bread really. Our mom then started to make the same recipe using bananas. And in time, my sister and I have been making changes to that recipe.

So, when we republished it here and published it on Instagram for the first time, we talked about where the recipe comes from and about the fact that it was originally made using apples. And ever since, a lot of you have been asking for the original apple bread recipe, our grandma’s recipe. So here you have it. The apple bread, the very same way our grandma used to make it.

There is something really special when it comes to passing down recipes. Things like these are what make you remember people and small moments that truly are what make life charming and worth living.

Everytime we make this apple bread or our banana bread, we remember our grandma, and start talking about her quirks, how she used to do all her make up with just one lipstick, and how she would always make these apple and banana breads using her bare hands, no whisk nor rubber spatula.

Our mom keeps doing the same. She uses her bare hands to beat it all. And now, whenever I’m making this recipe, and want to feel closer to them I do the same. Even if it is better or easier to use a whisk or some other utensil.
