This chocolate bread is part of what is now a series of recipes. It all started with our chocolate chip banana bread. It became one of our most viral recipes. That was followed by apple bread and carrot bread recipes.

All of them are based on the original recipe (which was for apple bread) from our paternal grandmother. It must be said that we owe all of this success with these recipes to her. In these other recipes, we’ve already talked a little bit about where it all came from. How our mom later adapted the recipe to make it almost always with banana (approved by our grandmother, haha). And how we are now adapting it to flavors that we think will be delicious. And then, sure enough, they are a huge success.

Each recipe we release in this series is increasingly successful. And people like them more and more. And we are delighted, not only because people like the recipes themselves or because they go viral (we also love knowing that you are making them at home and that they turn out great, hopefully they will also become traditional recipes in your homes as they are in our family), but because it makes us feel really good to know that our grandmother would be very happy right now knowing that so many people have enjoyed her recipe.

We know she would be very proud of herself, and she would laugh out loud as she told our grandfather about it. She, like many of her grandmothers (surely), conveyed much of her affection and love to us through food. And apple bread was very much her thing.

Over time, when she became much more tired and her hands no longer worked so well, she really appreciated that our mom was always ready and willing to make and bring them this type of banana bread. And over time, from a very young age, that responsibility (or rather privilege) fell to the two of us. The responsibility of bringing a banana bread (to which we always added walnuts and prunes because that’s how our grandfather liked it best) to his house with each visit.

Well, in this case, inspired by this whole story, but at the same time eager to explore more flavors, knowing that these types of recipes always turn out great, we make a chocolate bread. A more creamy flavor. This time without fruit, focusing on chocolate as the main ingredient. Just look at the photos and we’re sure you’ll be convinced to make it. This, like all our other breads, is a recipe you have to try.

If you like this recipe, you have to check out our apple bread, of course, so you can see the original recipe that inspired this chocolate bread.

Ingredients
Method
- Preheat the oven to 356º F (180°C). Grease a deep rectangular baking pan of 9 inches x 4.73 inches (approximately 25 cm x 12 cm) with a little butter or line it with parchment paper. Separately, in a medium bowl, sift the flour with the cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix with a spoon and set aside.
- In a large bowl, add the two types of sugar with the eggs, oil, sour cream or greek yogurt, and vanilla extract. Beat with a hand whisk for 1 minute until the mixture is lighter in color and fluffier.
- Add the flour mixture in two separate additions, beating for 10 seconds after each addition to get a smooth mixture. Finally, add the chocolate chips and mix just until incorporated.
- Carefully pour the mixture into the pan and bake at 356° F (180º C) for about 45 minutes until the bread is lightly golden brown and a wooden toothpick comes out clean when inserted.
- Once ready, take the bread out of the oven and let it rest for 20 minutes in the pan. Then turn it out and place it on a wire rack to cool down completely. Done!
