They are very festive, charming and delicious! They are crispy, a bit softer inside and full of flavor because of the nutella. We all love nutella, so it’s a no brainer really, because everyone will love these!

The best part of this recipe is you only need a few ingredients. A store-bought puff pastry dough from the supermarket, nutella, and a little bit of egg and sugar, that’s all! So there is no excuse for not making this dessert. It is awesome for making it at home for dinner with family or friends. They will make you look like the greatest host, without you doing too much or getting your hands dirty.

The easiest way to make this dessert is to use store-bought puff pastry, because it makes everything much faster. But if you want to make it yourself at home you can use our puff pastry recipe! The truth is that nothing compares to making these type of things from scratch to be honest.

You can use any puff pastry you can find, but the best is to use rectangular pieces, so you can shape these little Christmas trees easily.

In this case, to make the trees look even prettier, we used these sticks that have this golden snowflake figures on top. And they look great! But we didn’t use these while baking. We used normal wooden sticks for that, and once the trees had cooled down, we changed out the normal sticks for these prettier ones, for the final look!

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 365º F (180º C). Line a large rectangular baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Place one of the puff pastry rectangles on a clean surface. Put the nutella in a microwave-safe bowl and heat it up a little to make it easier use. Spread the nutella on top of the dough trying to cover well the edges. Place the second rectangle of puff pastry on top.
  • With a sharp knife, cut, lengthwise, strips about 0.60 inches (1.50 cm) wide. Using your hands, shape each tree. Grasp the end of a strip and start making small and then bigger waves with it until you run out of strip and get a shape similar to that of a Christmas tree. Then, use a wooden stick (or the one of your choice) to secure the shape of each tree.
  • Brush the trees with the beaten egg and sprinkle with a little brown sugar. Bake at 365º F (180º C) for 15 minutes or until golden brown on top.
  • Take the trees out of the oven and let them cool down for at least 10 minutes. Then sprinkle with a little powdered sugar and enjoy!
