Rice kripies treats are very famous snack in the United States, made of puffed rice. They come in many flavors. And they are usually chewy, with a sticky texture to them, because they have marshmallows in the mixture, and they are crunchy because they have the puffed rice itself, which makes them have a great texture when you eat them. There are classic flavors, such as vanilla, chocolate and several others others.

This time, we are making S’mores rice krispies treats. S’mores are a very typical dessert in the United States and also in Canada, eaten at campfires mostly, or famous because of them. You put two crackers (which are almost always Graham crackers) and make a sandwich with a marshmallow and chocolate filling. This is then cooked with the help of fire, so that the filling melts. The result is amazing!

Well, these rice krispies treats are S’mores flavored! and oh you will absolutely love them!

They are very tasty, easy to make and call for very few ingredients. And the result is unbeatable, really. They are a combination of different that come together really well. The flavor and texture of the puffed rice, with the soft and slightly melted chocolate, with the crispy texture of the cookies and the sticky and sweetness of the marshmallows… Yum!

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 C (3.95 oz) (112 gr) unsalted butter
  • 21.16 oz (600 gr) white marshmallows
  • 1 tsp (0.17 fl oz) (5 ml) vanilla extract
  • 5 C Rice krispies cereal
  • 3 C Golden Grahams cereal
  • 1 C (6 oz) (170 gr) milk chocolate chips
  • Milk chocolate, chopped, for decorating

Instructions
 

  • Grease with a little butter and line a square cake pan of approximately 8.60 inches (22 cm) wide with parchment paper.
  • Place the butter in a large saucepan and bring to medium heat so it melts. Add 2/3 parts of the marshmallows with the vanilla extract and cook for a few minutes, using a rubber spatula to stir the marshmallows until completely melted, scraping down the sides to ensure the marshmallows do not burn. Then remove the pan from the heat immediately.
  • Quickly add the rice krispies cereal with the golden grahams cereal and fold into the mixture with the same rubber spatula. Add the rest of the marshmallows along with the chocolate chips and mix until the ingredients are perfectly combined.
  • Pour the mixture into the cake pan and carefully press with the rubber spatula or your hands to form an even layer. It is important not to press too hard or the bars turn very compact.
  • Decorate the bars with half of the chopped chocolate and press a little so that they stick together well. The chocolate may start to melt, so reserve half of the amount for once the bars have cooled down.
  • Let the bars cool down for 1 hour. Turn them out of the pan and decorate with the remaining chopped chocolate and cut into 16 equal squares.
