This orange chicken is fabulous. This is a fried orange chicken chinese style but made our way. With an orange buttersweet sauce and caramelized onion. This is the perfect meal for a saturday night when you crave some chinese food.
I really like chicken. It is versitile, like turkey or duck, but richer. This recipe is easy and fast to make, for lunch or dinner. This orange chicken recipe es easy and wuick to make, for a delicious dinner.
We coat the chicken with the flour all at once, to make it practical and easier, but of course you can coat each piece of chicken one piece at a time, but it will take you longer. You can choose to do it the way you want.
We show you how to do it the easy way, for the everyday life. Something fast and tummy. We actually usually make a recipe such as this and eat it that day and the next two days or so, that way we forget about cooking for a few days.
The best thing is to make this chicken and some noodles on the side, or maybe or chinese style fried rice. This combination will make for the perfect chinese meal.
Now, one tip is when making this recipe is to add fresh orange juice and zome zest too, to have all that flavor from the orange come through.
- 3 chicken breasts
- 3 tbsp corn starch
- 2 tbsp flour
- 1 egg
- salt and pepper to taste
- 2 garlic cloves
- 3 spring onions
- sesame oil needed amount
- The juice of 2 oranges
- The zest of 1 orange
- 1 tbsp vinegar
- 4 tbsp soy sauce
- chilli flakes to taste
- 1 tsp ground ginger
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
Chop the chicken in pieces of about 3 cm aprox.
In a bowl, mix all the ingredients and then put the chicken in there, coating every piece, making sure each piece is coated, cover the bowl and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
On a cutting board, chop the garlic and onions, and on sauce pan to medium heat with some sesame oil.
Once the onion and garlic are soft, stir in the chicken and cook for 10 minutes aprox until it starts to turn gold.
While the chicken is cooking, in a small bowl mix all the inrgedients for the sauce and once the chicken is done, pour it over it.
Keep on cooking for the sauce to reduce a little and it´s done. Decorate with some fresh scallions.
